Fantasy Island, Dynasty and Star Trek star Ricardo Montalban dies
Fantasy Island actor Ricardo Montalban died yesterday at the age of 88. Montalban, who played Mr Roarke in the hit 70s TV show, was a movie star in his native Mexico before MGM brought him to Hollywood in 1946.
Montalban claimed that studio bosses were keen for him to change his name to Ricky Martin. The actor went on to star in films such as The Naked Gun, two Planet of the Apes films and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
He also guested in many popular TV shows including Dynasty, Murder, She Wrote, Bonanza and Hawaii Five-O. But he was best known for his Fantasy Island role as the man in the white suit who made people's dreams come true.
Montalban - who died at his California home - wed actress Georgiana Young in 1944 and the couple had four children. Georgiana died in 2007, aged 84, after 63 years of marriage.
