Originaltitel: The War Lord I det 11. århundrede ankommer ridderen Chrysagon som ny lensherre til en lille landsby ved Normandiets kyst. Under en jagt forelsker han sig i en lokal bondepige, og da hun skal giftes, benytter han sig af lensherrens hævdvundne ret til at sove med bruden på bryllupsnatten.
