Last night while watching Extra! they were saying that Joan Collins loves Deperate Houswives and is in fierce negotiations with the producers to play Terri Hatcher's mother beginning season two. Apparently Joan loves the show and is dying to be in it.
Good luck to her, and looking forward to see her on it. Knowing Joan, there will not be a dull moment on TV's most popular show....

i read the other week that joan had lost the role to someone else???..........

This news item was only on yesterday night. Extra always has the most up-to-date information. Perhaps she's back in the running. It didn't seem like she lost to anyone else as of yesterday. There was no mention of her running against anyone either. I will watch tonights celebrity news shows. Maybe they will mention something more.

Lesley Anne Warren has been cast to play Teri Hatcher's mother.

I heard Lesley-ann Warren has also been given the role.

However I would hope Joan would still get a role in the show, even if it was only for 1 episode.

It's a shame Bree's mother is dead.

Whoever the hell she is? She's a load more famous than Joan Collins, lol. And a much better actress if I must say. She also has an Oscar to her name.

I don't think Joan was ever up for this role (which is first season, not second), sounds like a rumor or wishful thinking on Joan's part. I certainly can't see her on this show in pretty much any role. It would be the extreme of extremes when it comes to stunt casting.

I think DH has done a good job so far with their casting though.

I AGREE. JOAN COLLINS WOULD BE THE BEST FOR THE ROLE. AS FOR THAT OTHER CHICKEE, SHE IS NO COMPARISON TO JOAN.. SO I WILL ALSO SAY THE ACTRESS WHO GOT IT, GOOD FOR HER, WHOEVER THE HELL SHE IS.

With all due respect to Joan, Leslie Ann Warren is an established acress and, imho, fits Desperate Housewives better. Joan is great, but I would have trouble accepting her as Teri Hatcher's mother. I think it would be great if Joan appears on the show at some point, but the role has to fit the show.

I quite like Ms Warren ever since I saw her in "Clue" when I was a child. and although she does look quite like Teri Hatcher I think she's too young. She's 18 years older than Teri which means she could be her mother but I still think she's a little too young, Joan is a much more suitable age.

I totally agree 100% - no one could be more suitable than Joan Collins - the ultimate superbitch from that 80's guilty primetime pleasure 'dynasty' -

I love Alexis and Dynasty of course (wouldn't be in here otherwise)...
and I've heard of Lesley Anne Warren but can't place her.
I have to say though, when I read in this post that Joan would be in DH it didn't do anything for me because when Joan went into 'Pacific Pallisades' as Christina Hobson, I'm sorry guys but it was just like Alexis again and (maybe cause we know Alexis so well)...she didn't compliment the show at all. I think DH is very well written and believable and if Joan COllins (icon as she is) swanned in, perhaps it would lose credibility.
I'd rather continue enjoying the story and the world of Wysteria Lane without having cameos from superstars.

You have a point there - since Joan Collins's rise to iconic status by virtue of playing alexis - she is danger of being typecast. Maybe one reason why she's had no real big roles or much acting work since 'dynasty' is that she would always be seen as alexis and nothing else.

I hope this comes to pass. DH is such a good show and'd benefit greatly from Joan's talent.

It's interesting ... if Joan joins the Desperate Housewives cast, it's in the second season.

Back in 1981, she joins Dynasty going into its second season ... funny isn't it?

Joan would be perfect for the show, but I think a returning guest starring role would be better. Just in case the 2nd season doesn't live up to expectations.

Joan isn't a good enough actress for Desperate Housewives and would bring the show down, IMO. She simply would not fit with her look, etc. It wouldn't work, plus I don't want stunt casting.

So far we've gotten some very clever casting, this would be a mistake and will never happen (thank god).

If you wanna get someone from Dynasty, get someone who makes sense like LInda Evans would could easily be Lynette or Edie's mother.

Linda looks wrong for the show! (or any show since surgery) and Joan can acts socks of Linda! I like Linda very much but she is not in the same league as Joan.

Joan and Linda are both pretty average actresses, but Linda's look better fits DH if I HAD to choose, but someone from Knots Landing like Joan Van Ark or Donna Mills would fit much better. They're capable of doing more than one role and have the range and just the amount of publicity to work for this type of show.

I do think Joan did a good job on Guiding Light which she should've stayed on. She managed to go a away from Alexis and did a good job.
