After watching season 1 again on DVD (I've watched it 3 times now), there are a couple of scenes with B and K that stood out to me. Please forgive me if we have already discussed these scenes, but I don't think we have. One scene is the night after Blake humiliated Krystle with the pawned necklace and he gets drunk; Joseph brings Blake to their bedroom and Krystle is sitting at the desk. She begins to talk to him and asks if he hears her. He doesn't respond but she says that is probably just as well. I love the words she says to him about loving him the best she knew how. She then tells him she loves him but she can't live with him. She begins to cry as she leans down to kiss his cheek. The next scene is the next morning and Blake is walking out the door and sees Krystle's car there. He questions Joseph about where she is and Joseph seems happy to inform him that she has left. Blake then walks back in the house and looks around talking about how Joseph shouldn't have let her go or he should have awaken him. Blake is saying how much he loves Krystle and that she MUST come back. I believe it is at this point that Joseph finally realizes just how much Blake really does love Krystle because he sees the hurt in Blake's eyes.
Krystle then stops to call Matthew to tell him goodbye and he suggests that they meet somewhere. Krystle says that would be the worse thing and Matthew says let's do the worse thing then. When they meet Matthew is ready to forget about his wife and daughter but Krystle reminds him that they can't. I also think that even though Krystle is walking away from Blake, she still will not be unfaithful to him.
I especially love the scene after Ted's death when Krystle goes back to the mansion. Blake has totally lost control and he refuses to go with the cops. He says he will not go anywhere until he sees Krystle. I love the emotion between the two of them when Krystle walks into the library. Blake sees her and he goes to her and pulls her to him, rather than just going up to her. Blake tells her he appreciates her coming and Krystle begins to cry. I think Linda can cry very well. I wonder how much of this is acting or if she is really crying. At this point in the story I can sense that the relationship between B and K is something special and I believe that is why it lasted so long!

When I bought Season 1 it was my first time seeing and I noticed those scenes as well.
I think it's interesting how B&K's releationship had evolved over the years.
I love the bedroom scene where Krystal is talking to a passed out Blake.
Her words were so true and from her heart. You could tell it hurt her deeply to say them, but she had to.
I also loved it when Blake didn't want to go anywhere with out seeing her first.
It shows that no matter what's going on, Krystal is the center of his world.

I totally agree with both of you! The scene in the library after Krystle comes back is so powerful. Blake is out of his mind, he is like a caged lion pacing back and forth, not really listening to reason. His only thought is not going anywhere until he sees Krystle. Then the door opens and she walks in, Blake instantly calms down and pulls her close to him. You can see the love and desire he has for her and Krystle lets out a little cry as the pull her to his chest. I think this is one of the first scene where we truely see the love and passion between them!

You can tell I love this scene and have watched it over and over!!!

BK Fan, Singlegalval & Julie32 – I totally agree with you all about thpse scenes in Series 1 – btw I’m so jealous that you have the DVD – there is no news yet about a release date for England!

When a drunken Blake is brought upstairs, Krystle was already looking very sad and considering their relationship as she sat looking at the necklace – the incident that sparked off the day’s argument. When she sees that he is drunk and has passed out, she isn’t angry or annoyed at him – she looks tenderly at him and still with love . He looks so adorable asleep and it gives her the chance to say what she really feels without interruption. She still loves him so much but she is too gentle to cope with him the way he has been lately – she had only ever seen the kind, considerate side of him until they were married and now she is just very sad that although they do love each other, their marriage can’t last like this.

The next morning, we do see different aspects of Blake’s character because when he first realises that she’s gone, he sounds almost defiant that she will come back – almost as if he’d drag her back to prove a point . Then it all hits him & he realises what he’s done – he sounds so humble when he confesses to Joseph, quite simply that he loves her and he doesn’t think he can bear to lose her – then realises that he has treated her unfairly. This shows a softer, more human Blake and his voice is breaking when he says again that she’ll be back – he really does need her to come back to him. I think that was probably one of the turning points for him – realising that he didn’t fully appreciate what he had until he drove her away and seeing that she was really very important to him.

When he is questioned by the police,Julie32 you got it so right – he really is out of his mind with panic and anger and fright at what has happened with Ted and also everything that has happened lately . Here is a situation that he is no longer in control of – unusual for him – he cannot issue orders etc and its as if he wants to escape from this nightmare and only Krystle can calm him down. When he knows she is there, its as if he instantly changes – you’re right –he desperately needs her & her support. Seeing him when Krystle comes in, he looks like a very frightened and repentant schoolboy as he looks at her and blindly reaches for her – she is his anchor in this nightmare

This scene takes place after Cecil has died. Krystle is wearing an unusual blue dress and is feeding the fish at the lily pond when she sees Blake come riding up on his horse. She smiles and goes over to him and they share a warm hug as she asks “how was your ride darling?”. Blake is in a very good and playful mood and he is certainly enjoying kissing and embracing his wife as he replies “it was good but not as good as this!” . They start to walk and as he takes off his riding coat, Krystle is in an equally playful mood and curious as to what he is up to, saying “come on you didn’t come home early from the office just to go galloping off into the sunset – you must have had a reason!” Blake laughs and he loves her curiosity so decides to tease her by replying that he did have a reason – he wanted to come home because he had to think. He sounds a little serious and as they walk, he gently takes her hand, Krystle is interested in what he had to think about. Blake continues to tease her by saying that he had to think about this beautiful blonde lady that he knows, that he’s interested in – you could say intimately interested in. He looks at her face to see her reaction and she just smiles, knowing that she’s fallen for his teasing yet again, and they exchange loving smiles – they look so relaxed and peaceful just walking hand in hand in the sunshine – no worries.

As they sit at the table by the pool, Krystle sets out some food for him as they talk about Fallon and how long she will be interested in running a business. Krystle can see how he is thinking & feeling and says he hopes its not long. Blake is in a good mood and recognises that she can read his mind, and teases her further saying “are you trying to put words into my mouth Mrs Carrington”, to which krystle smirks and says oh so innocently “me, Mr Carrington?…..well maybe!” and they take a drink. They look at each other and smile and I love how they tease each other calling themselves Mr & Mrs Carrington – so formal and the hint that its like having an affair – almost like the boss & secretary relationship that they had . Blake looks so happy & relaxed with her, partly I think because they share the same teasing sense of humour. Krytsle does turn the conversation to a more serious tone by trying to explain to Blake how Fallon is feeling and how she needs to be treated more seriously – this is quite a big thing considering she knows how little Fallon thinks about her . She persuades Blake to be more understanding with Fallon, asking him to “bend a little” for her sake and Blake just can’t say no when his Krystle asks him to do something, especially when he can see she makes sense, but he still likes to tease her so he smirks and asks her to do something for him…he pauses and then asks her to massage his neck for him – please! Krystle can’t help but smile at him and his teasing so she does get up and stands behind him, massaging his shoulders while he sits there so relaxed by her touch.

I'll post properly about Blake's jealousy and the scene before Krystle goes to the airport (probably later tonight or tomorrow) but to answer your questions Greg, yes its the same dress and yes they were still living together. It was not long after Krystina was born and was shortly after Blake was jealous at her spending all day with Daniel after Christmas. When they were talking they were talking about Blake's jelousy. It is the beginning of Blake' uncontrollable jealousy but it is many episodes later that Krystle moves out. I promise more later..........

You can buy region free players all over Europe. I live en Denmark (a region 2 country like the UK), but that has not stopped me from buying the Dynasty box, since region free dvd-players can be bought retail for as little as 40-50 dollars - and they work fine.

Blake's jealousy (as promised)
Blake & Krystle were at some party for the hospital, I think that Daniel had donated a wing to that hospital. I agree with everyone about Krystle’s dress – it was truly gorgeous and very very sexy!! Blake and Daniel have a very interesting conversation as Blake gradually leads up to asking him what he is up to – as Krystle is standing nearby she hears Blake talking and hears him mention her name so she looks uncomfortable, especially as Blake makes it clear to Daniel that they will finish the conversation another time – without Krystle.

Later that evening Blake is talking business and Krystle is standing beside him listening but is probably losing interest and so she looks around the room, sees Daniel and smiles. Daniel sees his chance so he comes straight over to her and asks her to dance, pointedly asking Blake whether he minds – obviously he has to say that he doesn’t, and he takes her to the dancefloor. Blake’s business friends go away and he is left standing there alone, watching his wife dance with a man he is getting very jealous of – he is rich, good looking (allegedly – though I don’t see it myself!) and is apparently having an impact in local business and social circles – a real competitor to Blake . As he watches them dance, Alexis comes over & immediately understands that he is upset so she tells him not to sulk but swallow his pride and dance with her. As he dances with Alexis he cannot stop sulking & can’t stop watching Krystle who is looking very happy talking & dancing closely with her partner. Blake can’t stand it for long and stops his dance and goes to the bar, where he downs several drinks. He is sitting alone and is consumed with jealousy as he watches them dance – he can’t stand the idea of his wife not being at his side at all times and is sulking that she is having a good time – not with him.

Krystle sees him there and is concerned that he is sitting drinking alone and obviously not happy. She sits beside him and asks what the matter is, saying that he is acting as though he is jealous. He looks at her hard and asks whether he has reason to be, and when she calmly reassures him that he has no reason to be, instead of being happy at that, he coldly says “then I’m not jealous” and looks away again. He is sulking and behaving like a petulant young boy & Krystle is trying to understand what the problem is – asking him what he & Daniel were talking about. Blake replies that he was asking him some questions about his wife – questions he felt he had a right to ask. Instead of being furious at this (as I think most wives would be at such cheek), she asks an understandable question – why not ask her. But we know Blake and he doesn’t lose at these verbal exchanges & he likes to win so he says OK then – and asks her why he sold Allegre to him & why he sent her the expensive picture frame. Calmly, Krystle knows the real reason behind this and knows he wants to know why she stayed at the farm that day – she tells him it was wonderful because a foal was being born. She looks so happy as she remembers it & tells him that it made her think about her unfulfilled dreams and was it that hard to understand.

She is trying to make him understand her feelings but he is not in the mood to listen – he can only concentrate on his own jealousy & misery – if her feelings and dreams don’t match his then he doesn’t want to know. He turns to her and pours cold water on her feelings by saying unkindly that at times she is very naïve and then he decides that he wants to go home and expects her to go with him. She looks at him and he realises that she is not going to leave – he interprets this as being defiant and so he sulkily says that he’ll leave the car behind for her, and he walks off – no kiss, no goodnight – just leaves her there.

Blake is behaving like a spoiled child, expecting his own way in life because it has been like that for so long. Now he sees that Krystle, his dutiful wife who usually fell in with his plans and dreams, was actually dancing with another man and having a good time and to top it off, was prepared to stay without him. He loves her very much and needs her and he assumes that he will always lead and she will follow. This is an unpleasant development for him – he isn’t in complete control anymore – he is sitting alone in a bar and his wife is finding a new friend – he thinks she should be with him at all times, hence his jealousy & sulky attitude . In Series 1 Krystle told Blake that he treated her as if she was to be locked up in his castle and only let out when he chose to display her – that she should talk to no-one etc – how right she was! He knows Krystle is very beautiful and men would find her attractive but he is worried that she actually seems to like Daniel – the threat is becoming real. Unfortunately this jealousy eats away at him so that he becomes very unkind to her as the episodes go on – he can’t help himself – he is feeling very vulnerable and so he broods & sulks like he has always done – almost as if he wants to drive her away. All credit to Krystle for not losing her temper with him because he was out of line with his jealousy that night and had no reason to be so mean to her – she stays at the bar and looks very upset at their conversation but it helped her make up her mind to go into business with Daniel and she asks him to teach her – she is starting to try and gain some independence and Blake has unwittingly motivated her.


I'll post about the other scene later but I didn't expect you all to give up on the latest game so soon Come on and guess - the only clue I'll give is it has something to do with Adam & Kirby

I agree with KrystleDarling - regionfree players can also be found in Sweden. I - on the other hand is short of money (tempoarily) and don't need another player as of yet. So I go to a friend of mine and watch it with her family instead!!
.... and if you have a friend who knows computers there are plug-in software to be found on the internet to "fool " the DVD-player in your computer to belive it is playing region 2 instead...

Angiebaby I agree with your view of Blake’s jealousy, but I have to defend Blake on one thing.
When I saw this scene I was very annoyed with Blake’s comment about Krystle being naïve.
Now, when I come to think of it he was right - she was naïve. Krystle thought of Daniel as a friend and nothing more and she thought Daniel feels the same. Blake knew Daniel finds her very attractive (who wouldn’t) and he knew that Daniel will try to go beyond business (that business is just a way to get closer to her). As we will see later on Blake was right. I have to say there was a better way for Blake to tell her that and to support hers dreams but because of his jealousy he chose the wrong way.

Komodor - You are right, I know I think I was a bit harsh on Blake when I was writing that. The thing is - yes he was right, Krystle was naive - we the viewers could see that but he was really only saying that out of jealousy and he just happened to be right. Both Blake& Krystle were naive with Daniel & Lady Ashley because he just kept insisting that she was a friend even though Krystle could see there was more to it on her part. They were both blind to their own friendships.

I understand Blake being jealous and having a hissy fit at his wife dancing with another man but he really did take his sulk a bit far - he never let up on her until after she left him. She had just had a baby so you'd think he'd allow her some enjoyment and some other conversation She tried to reason with him & it got her nowhere. As for her dreams, I really wonder whether he would have supported her if Daniel hadn't been involved - I still think he wanted her to be close to him & the family and not go off in another direction. Maybe he was still insecure & thought that if she had a separate interest then they would drift apart Krystle herself should have been more wary of Daniel as she knew this was causing problems in her marriage - independence is one thing but she should have been more worldly wise, especially after she found out about Daniel's feelings for her - she should have listened to Blake then

For all that though......I do still think Blake is a great character - he is certainly far from perfect but very believable

From "The Accident" – Episode 76, Blake is talking to Krystle in the study and asks her what he would do without her and how he wouldn't cope/deal with everything going on if it wasn't for her. Her answer is like this - I love you darling and I will always be here for you. They are taking about the lost of Kirbys baby, Adam poisoning Jeff...

Acapulco

Krystle is devastated by Mark’s revelation that they are still legally and so she goes to Acapulco to try and prove that they really were divorced. She hired a private investigator Mr Ramone to look into this and he comes to her apartment to break the bad news to her – she her divorce papers were forged. This is all a terrible shock for her and she has kept this to herself, not wanting to tell Blake until she learned the truth – hoping that she was really married to him and hoping she could resolve this herself. As Mr Ramone leaves, after a few moments there is another knock at the door and she naturally expects it to be him – after all no-one else knows where she is, and so as she opens the door saying his name she is stunned to see a smiling Blake at the door, laughing & saying “who is Mr Ramone?”. All of her pent-up emotions come rushing up on her at that moment as she sees Blake, her “real” husband standing there – she loves & needs him so much, that she smiles happily & says “Oh Blake!” and she flings her arms around his neck in a tight embrace and sobs with relief that he has tracked her down. He doesn’t quite appreciate her reaction, he is just plesed to have found her & he holds her tightly saying “oh you’ve been a hard lady to catch up with – do you have any idea how much you’ve cost me in long distance calls?”

Next we see them sitting on the sofa after Krystle has told him everything about Mark and the divorce. I’m surprised that he takes it so calmly considering their wedding had been invalid – I think that knowing his hot temper, I’d expected a different reaction. Instead he is calm & reassuring to Krystle, knowing that this is something that can be easily fixed – I suppose he realised that he needed to be supportive considering how upset she was. She had been crying and he says that she didn’t have to go through this alone – she could have called him in Washington & he’d have come straight back. Krystle sadly replied that she knew he was busy and had other things on his mind but he looks lovingly at her and strokes her hair, saying softly and honestly “since when does anything come before you?” She smiles gratefully and says that she was just trying to find out for sure about –and Blake says for her to just say it – the fake divorce. He says that Mark & Alexis know about it & are gloating about it so she can say it too – then he says that she should also say she is going to fly home with her real husband to find out what the Colorado law says about this & they will make things right again for them.

Krystle smiles, happy that he is taking it so well and happy that he will make thing better again – she was in despair. He then declares that he loves her so very much and looks at her with love & desire as he leans forward to kiss her passionately, but then he stops – realising that she is not returning his kiss. As he moves his lips away, she is still on the verge of tears and apologises but he sees that she is still upset and this is not the right moment, so ever the gentleman, he says he understands and changes the subject saying that since they are in one of the most romantic cities in the world and in a v god hotel so he’ll order some supper. Krystle sits at the coffee table, looking very melancholy despite everything Blake has said because she is still in shock and picks up her wineglass. She starts thinking back to Mark telling her about the divorce and she becomes upset and tearful again and as she tries to put the glass down she drops it and she quickly jumps her – her nerves are on edge. Blake hears the crash and hurries over to her asking what the matter is. She is very upset and holds him saying through her tears that she does love him &doesn’t know what’s wrong with her. She looks so vulnerable and Blake gently strokes her cheek saying that she’s been through a lot & is very tired. He tenderly kisses her cheek then looks into her tear stained face, still a little puzzled & concerned by her distressed state and gently brushes her hair from her face, comforting her like a child.
