I also like the scene in Blake's office (Season 4) when Blake takes up for Krystle in front of Alexis. Alexis reminds Blake that they have 3 wonderful, clever children together and that's something that Krystle will never be able to give him. I love Blake's reply: "Krystle may not be able to give me a child, but she fills a void in my life that you will never be able to understand!" Blake is so wonderful!

Talking about having a baby

Blake has just got out of bed and walks into the kitchen, dressed in his robe, carrying a piece of paper, and is smiling. He looks around for his wife & sees Krystle kicking the pantry door closed while carrying dishes of ingredients. As she comes to the table, they are facing each other and Blake begins their teasing game by saying that he just found this note, from an obviously beautiful woman, on his bed. Krystle continues the tease by asking – the woman or the note? to which Blake says regretfully – sad to say, the note. He continues by saying it was pretty sexy stuff – meet me in the kitchen, urgent. Krystle acts all innocent and coy, saying – well here we are! and Blake laughs, walks around the table and asks where the staff are. He is very surprised when his wife says that she gave them the day off, sent them packing, and he teases her again by saying mockingly – do you mean that we’re alone? Krystle smirks and faces him saying in a coy manner – well I am the mistress of the house, that’s what you said hmmm? and Blake just smiles and agrees with her. Krystle has just scored a point with him and turns to the matter of food asking him demurely how he’d like his Spanish omelette. Blake grins and says in a low husky voice – very very Spanish. Krystle then asks him, with quite a seductive tone “lots and lots of hot stuff?” and now Blake cannot resist her. As she turns back to him he comes towards her and replies sexily “oh yes, lots and lots of hot stuff” as he wraps his arms around her – his mind has now turned away from food I suspect! Krystle smiles lovingly at him as she is caught in his embrace and she wraps her arms around his neck as he declares simply – Mrs Carrington, I love you. She smiles and says that she loves him, then she looks thoughtfully at him and says especially on a day like today when the lines on his forehead don’t look quite so tight and you can yell out to the rest of the world – hey I’m taking the day off & I’m going to be with my wife. Blake smiles and laughs at this because she is being so affectionate and caring and he gazes at her, confessing that he feels so relaxed when he’s with her. Krystle smiles and says she’s happy just to see him like that and then they both lean forward, their foreheads touching, and she closes her eyes and says like she’s so happy she’s got everything she ever dreamed of.

Then she opens her eyes, smiles and breaks away from their embrace, being practical, saying – back to work. As she stands there whisking the ingredients, she says that after this then they can talk. Blake is a little curious and idly asks what she wants to talk about so she stops and looks seriously at him, saying that they should talk about “us”. She says simply that she loves being with him and wants to be with him more, be more involved in his life, that she used to be a pretty good secretary & helped whenever she could & would like to help again. She sees that he has not replied and quickly ends the conversation, saying “hmm guess I’ve talked – end of speech” and moves to the stove, probably uncomfortable about raising the issue and thinking that Blake is trying to think of a polite way to say no.

Instead, Blake looks thoughtful and does not dismiss the idea, saying “I think that might be arranged”. He then turns back to her as she is busy with the stove and stands behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder. He says in a husky voice that there’s something he wants from her too, just as seriously and then he says “I want a child by you”. He looks & smiles to see her reaction as she stops what she is doing, he has taken her by surprise, then he whispers seductively into her ear “soon, very soon” then teases her by whispering “because you know, neither one of us is getting any younger!” and then they both laugh and she playfully elbows him then turns around to look at him. She looks very happy and puts her arms around his neck, saying “and I want to give you a child” then she teases him by saying in a mock-serious voice “but do you think we could just hang in there until after the Spanish omelette?” but this time, Blake playfully shakes his head and leans forward to kiss her……..

I love this scene because it is the first hot scene they have as newly weds at home. Having the scene in the kitchen also helps – the link with food and sex being not too subtle. Krystle’s playful note commanding him to meet her obviously turned him on as it was a reversal of their usual relationship & the references to food certainly gave him an appetite (though not necessarily for food!) Krystle’s reference to Blake wanting lots of hot stuff was not lost on him as he certainly believes Krystle is hot and he definitely wants lots of it/her!! They are really cute as newlyweds having the house to themselves and we see Krystle wanting to do simple things like cooking for him and then they start to discuss what they want from their marriage. Krystle doesn’t quite realise yet that Blake sees her in the lady of the house role but it seems clear that the idea of having a child by him is something she is really wants & will make her happy (this is later true). The way they are standing, with Blake whispering in he ear is so sexy – I just love it – after all he has got one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard! Its clear that they were definitely going to forget about the food & make love - Krystle just couldn’t resist his “come to bed” voice!!!!

Krystle has been into town and goes to see Blake in the library. She is wearing a very simple white wraparound dress with a white choker and she stands there smiling as Blake unwraps the box to find a silver spoon. He teases her by crying “for me?” to which she smiles and retrieves it from him. As he is smiling at his joke, she says “no its not for you silly! I thought that if our baby was to be born with a silver spoon in his mouth then we should have one ready!” and she puts it back in the box. They are both smiling, excited by the prospect of their first child, and Blake puts his arms around her waist & she rests her arms on his shoulders as he asks whether the doctor was pleased with her. She smiles and looks radiantly happy as she replies that the doctor told her it was going to be a very happy pregnancy – Blake nods, and then she adds that she is very very happy, and then a smiling Blake leans forward to kiss her tenderly on her lips.

It’s a really short but sweet scene as we see that they are really happy about her pregnancy, despite Krystle’s fears that he didn’t want another child. He is thrilled and you can tell that he loves her so much and is happy that she is so happy with her pregnancy – it was just what he wanted in that scene in the kitchen in season 1. Its poignant that as Blake is waiting in the hospital for Krystle as she is suffering her miscarriage, that his thoughts go back to their conversation in the kitchen about his wanting a child, and when Krystle bought the spoon and said that it would be a happy pregnancy & she was happy – its so sad that their happiness was so shortlived.

In Komodor's absence I have a few more scenes in mind for the next few days so bear with me

BTW BKFan, I totally agree with your comment about that scene with Blake & Alexis - she thought she was scoring a point by hurting him yet she was wrong. He declares that he loves Krystle more than she can undestand & that he loves her for herself, not because he wants a child. Krystle had worried after her miscarriage that it would destroy their marriage because she could;t have a child & that Blake would have no reason to stay with her - here he shows that he truly loves Krystle He does look upset after Alexis leaves but I think that is because he loves Krystle so much & Krystle not being able to have a child is still a painful part of their lives and Alexis's comment was so cruel

I also love this scene in the kitchen; it is my favorite non-fireplace scene with B&K. I don't like what comes after it though (the rape). I sometimes feel that Krystle was too easy on him! Rewatching Season 1 on DVD reminds me of just how cruel Blake could be. I believe that the compassionate man he later became (the one I adore) was partly because of the faithfulness and love of Krystle!

I saw Season 1 for the first time and thought that Krystal was too easy on him for what he had done to her.
But then again, Blake is a completely different person in the 1st season.
Although that doesn't excuse what he did to our beloved Krystal.
But I think it's nice to see how much closer they became over the years.

I saw another episode yesterday on Soapnet where Blake took up for Krystle. Blake and Alexis were in Vail, Colorado, and Alexis said something like: "You've been married to that whimp Krystle for so long you've forgotten what a real woman is like." Blake's reply: "On the contrary, Krystle has taught me what a real woman should be!" I love it when Blake takes up for Krystle, especially to Alexis!

BK Fan - I agree with you about that scene in Vail. Its great that when Alexis thinks she can undermine Krystle to Blake that he doesn't allow her to do it. He tries to make her see that Krystle is a million times a better person than she is & nothing Alexis could ever say can change his love for Krystle. We know that Blake is protective of Krystle & won't let anyone hurt or manhandle her (eg outside the courtroom) and its good to see that he will verbally protect her too, even when she is not there

Folks - another post for you to think about (although I think I got a little carried away as I was writing it!)

Question of trust

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Blake & Krystle developed their trust over the years, so much so that Krystle could see a video of her husband in a brothel and still believe that there was an innocent explanation.

Although in the earlier days they both suspected the other of infidelity eg with Alexis and with Toscanni and Matthew, they still had a fundamental trust & true & deep understanding of each other. When Krystle had left Blake and he had been charged with Ted Dinard’s death, Krystle instinctively came back to be with him to support him, even though they would not be sleeping together as husband & wife – she did this because she did not believe that Blake could have meant to kill him – that he wasn’t a murderer. It could have been easier for her to use this as an excuse for leaving him for good but instead she trusted his character and she knew him well enough to now that it was an accident – even though she knew what he was capable of when drunk – he had raped her once. Her support for him was greatly appreciated by Blake who wouldn’t even go with the police until he had seen her – he truly wanted and needed her then & he too was able to move beyond their particular marital issues and see the bigger picture. He appreciated her standing by him and testifying for him in court and he also had enormous trust in her to ask her to be his representative at an important board meeting during the trial – he had great confidence in her even though on an earlier night he asked her to stay with him that night but she said she wasn’t ready for that yet.

On a similar note, when Krystle was questioned by the police over the shooting accident with Claudia Blaisdel, there was no hesitation in his mind that his wife was innocent. He was travelling back from a very bad meeting with Logan Rhinewood & was furious but as soon as he got a call about an emergency back home involving Krystle, all his earlier problems were forgotten as he just concentrated on Krystle. At the mansion, A very distressed krystle is being questioned by a detective and she is on the verge of tears and is trembling as she tells him that he has got it all wrong & that she was just trying to stop Claudia from hurting herself or someone else. The detective coolly asks whether that “someone” may have been her, implying that she may have deliberately shot her, and she cries out in distress and frustration “no” – she is very upset and is getting frightened. Just then Blake comes into the room and instinctively opens his arms and takes her protectively into his arms and kisses her then demands to know what the detective wants. Blake says that there would be no more questioning there that night and orders him to leave – he won’t have anyone upsetting his Krystle . As he goes, Blake warmly embraces her again, letting her feel safe again and apologises for not being there when it all happened. Krystle is very shaken and crying and says worriedly that the detective doesn’t believe her & when Blake tries to placate her, she says that she is worried and then looks ito his eyes and explains that she was just trying to help her. She looks so vulnerable – like a frightened child, and Blake says that he knows she was &that the police would too. He believes Krystle because he knows her so well and knows that she would never do anything like that to hurt anyone – she is too gentle & loving and everyone else would realise that too. Alexis had not expected this reaction from him as she gloated to Cecil that Blake would be very angry at this news story, implying that he would be angry with Krystle – but his reaction is the exact opposite because he knows her nature so well and it would be impossible to believe her to be guilty.

In a later scene with Andrew Laird, Blake is indeed angry at the situation but with the police and not with his wife – he says determinedly that its one thing for the DA to come back at him but he would not let them attack Krystle – he is so protective of her anyway, but now she is very vulnerable and he can’t stand to see her so upset and afraid.

In their bedroom, he asks her why she wasn’t dressed yet and she tries to brush it off by saying that she doesn’t know but he knows that she is upset and so goes up to her and gently puts his arms around hers, asking her gently what is it. She looks sad and upset and looks down as she admits that she is frightened – she feels that she is letting him down & cannot look him in the eye. Blake at first tries to lighten her mood by gently taking her arms and turning her back to face him, saying – my wife, my beautiful strong wife frightened?” then he says that he can understand that after all she’ been through lately with losing their child and now this, but he promises her that everything will be alright. He tries to reassure her but she still looks so sad and worried, still looking down and she says that she hopes it will be alright, and then Blake gently lifts her chin so that she is looking at him and says tenderly “know that I love you so much, so very much” . Krystle looks into his eyes and knows he is sincere & she has confidence in his love as she says that she knows that.

I think it shows just how much Blake loves her in these scenes – he has unconditional trust in Krystle that even though she is being accused of something so serious, it never crosses his mind to wonder if she is guilty. He knows her nature so well and wants to protect her from all of this. I think he particularly wants to protect her after the miscarriage because he saw how emotionally fragile she had been and doesn’t want her hurt again – he reassures her that he loves her so much & I think that is important because he knows how upset she has been. if anything, perhaps this incident has strengthened his love for her because all of his protective instincts have been roused by her good, caring qualities that he loves so much, being misinterpreted by others. I also think that he can see how highly he prizes her good actions as they contrast with his business dealings – sometimes his motives in business are questionable but Krystle doesn’t deserve any of this.

Thank you Angiebaby for the beautiful posts. I haven't seen the episodes with the accidental shooting since they originally aired. Your descriptions are like seeing them again. Thanks!

The pictures in question...I think season 5 when Blake finds out his father is dieing. Blake is preparing to leave to see him and starts to remember bad memories about how his father treated his mother. Then Krystle says "some people aren't meant to be together". Blake and Krystle have been fighting a bit and Blake tells Krystle, " what I feel for you will never change and if we have problems, we will work them out."

I think this is the scene....or I could be way off!!!!

This is just a guess....Season 9 while Krystle is having bad headaches. Blake is so concerned about her health and Krystle tells him she's ok. She goes up to Blake, who is so afraid to hurt her, says "I don't have a headache and I'm not going to break". This is Krystle's way of telling Blake she wants to make love with him more than anything else.

In season 8 after Blake announced to the family he was running for gov. of Colorado?

Well, I have to say that you guys are killin' me. I refused to watch most of season 8 and season 9 then only episode I saw and remember was Krystle and Blake's wedding and K leaving in the limo.

However, I think the scene is from season 9. Have no ideal about what might have been going on EXCEPT to say that K was leaving and they both knew it. You can see it on their faces whether it was B and K leaving each other or J and E leaving each other.

I agree with you For.Krystel....If you look at Linda's facial expression, especially in season 9, you can tell she is having a hard time leaving the show and J.F. It had to been hard considering she worked so closely with John for 9 yrs. And their work wasn't like ours, they were together on the set 12-14hrs. a day and photo shoots and stuff on the weekends. No wonder they are very close and still are to this day. Nice people....very nice people.

I didn’t like how Linda/Krystle looked in season 8-9. She was like a doll.
I also didn't like to watch most of season 8 and season 9. For me Dynasty was – B&K.

This scene is from Season 8 after Blake had announced his was running for governor. He had asked Steven to be his campaign manager and he turned him down. Blake said maybe Steven had the right idea. Krystle asked him if he was having second thoughts about running. She was trying to encourage him to keep on. He looks at her and says something about waking up at night in a panic wondering what his life would be like without her. This is so sad to me because we all know that soon he will have to learn what his life will be like without her.

I relly don't remember so much of the episodes when Krystle was pregnat with Krystina. I've seen the pics from LB's birthday party (outdoors) and when Blake puts his hand on her belly and is feeling the baby move (Krystle is wearing an apricot outfit) , but were there more scenes like that?
I belive Krystle and Blake looked soo good as expecting parents back then. Just cute!!

Telling Alexis that she is pregnant

This is at LB’s birthday party and Alexis is giving orders to the staff about getting her some caviar. Krystle walls in on this and is coldly furious that Alexis is doing this. She takes her into another room where the birthday cake is and quietly but firmly tells her that no-one gives orders to her staff but her. Alexis tries to smile her way out of being chastised like this and says innocently that she was just asking for a morsel of food. Gerard brings the caviar in and a maid offers them both a glass of champagne, and while Alexis takes a glass, she asks Krystle whether she is joining her. Krystle smiles enigmatically and says that she’s given it up for the next 9 months or so, and Alexis’s expression is frozen as she realises the implication. She pauses and repeats– 9 months, are you pregnant (looking none too happy) and Krystle smiles and confirms it, then Alexis gives a half-hearted attempt at a smile and wishes her congratulations, whilst gulping down some champagne. Knowing the sincerity of the comment, Krystle’s smile also doesn’t change as she thanks her. Alexis cannot keep the smile on her face for long and she walks around the table, idly looking at the dishes, saying sulkily says that its not that special – even worms procreate. Krystle won’t let that comment go and she replies that not all survive – a comeback that Alexis hadn’t expected so she laughs and says that for a simple soul she can be very cryptic sometimes. Alexis knows all too well what Krystle is referring to but bluffs it out, and Krystle says that she will decrypt it for her – she made sure that she lost her first baby & she’ll make sure she doesn’t get anywhere near her baby this time. Although Krystle certainly has a point – Alexis was guilty of causing the miscarriage, Alexis hates being reminded that she was in the wrong, and she snaps at her to stop playing mother Earth – when she’s given birth to 4 children then she can crow. As soon as the words leave her mouth she realises that she has spoken without thinking (a very un-Alexis thing to do) and Krystle immediately catches it – asking what she means by 4. Alexis tries desperately to cover up and avoids her eye as she says that of course she meant 3 – she couldn’t count the miscarriage after Steven . Krystle is very surprised at this declaration – Alexis tells her that she shouldn’t be so naïve – she acts as though she is the only woman ever to get pregnant and to lose a baby, then she whisks out of the room – happy to escape more questions about her talk of 4 children.

Usually Alexis engages her brain before her tongue but this is one of the few times when she is not that careful – saying that she is always quick to find a convenient lie or explanation. I also think that its interesting that Krystle was not going to tell Alexis about her pregnancy – partly I think because of the last miscarriage but partly because I doubt she thought it was any of her business – she could certainly do without the false congratulations – it was a little like seeing two rivals circling each other with their cryptic talk and then Krystle making Alexis make the first mistake. Their scenes were often very well scripted but I also love their fixed smiles – maintaining politeness but each knowing just what they think of each other.


Deal of the century goes wrong

The day of the birthday party, Blake and Krystle are very happy, joking about their unborn baby’s birthday and it seems that everything is going well for them - Blake has pulled off the deal of the century and Krystle is pregnant ……..but then they hear the announcement on the news that the accuses Blake of siding with terrorists over the South China Seas oil leases and the area is under an embargo.

Blake and Krystle go to the office to try to sort out this mess – Krystle telling the Press that as soon as they have new they will call a press conference. Later that night we get the impression that Blake sent Krystle home a little earlier as she is sitting at the kitchen table in her satin nightdress and negligee idly eating some grapes, waiting for Blake, still in his tuxedo, to come out of the kitchen. He comes put pouring her a glass of milk, his bowtie, adorably undone around his neck, and he jokes - just what the doctor ordered. Krystle takes the milk and returns the tease, saying – thanks doc! He smiles and asks “how you feeling darling” and she smiles and laughs, reassuring him by saying that she’s great. He sits on the edge of the kitchen table, facing her and picks up his drink (not milk!) and says he’s sorry for tonight – he shouldn’t have put her through all that – reporters questions and the tension and the frustration. She smiles back at him as he takes a drink and says happily that she can handle it, then her expression becomes more serious and asks him to be careful – Ahmed doesn’t play by the same rules that he does. Blake seems optimistic though and says that he has all of the credibility on his side and Ahmed knows that. Krystle is more realistic and adds that Alexis knows that too – Blake grimly nods and then puts his hand comfortingly on Krystle’s shoulder.

This is just a little scene but it shows that from the beginning of her pregnancy, Blake wanted to be careful of her and protect her from any stress . He knows that tonight had been stressful for him and wished she hadn’t had to be part of it – he still hasn’t quite realised that she is not so fragile but has a great deal of strength and can handle pressure. Its sweet that he wants to protect her but his wish to wrap her in cotton wool and keep her aware from his business problems will lead to their later disagreements. Their playful conversation about the milk is sweet, showing them at their relaxed side , and the conversation about his troubles shows that he can talk openly with her about his problems. He needs her to be able to see things from a different angle but has yet to fully appreciate her input.

I know not everyone watched Season 8 but for those who did, I just had to comment on one of the inconsistencies of the election storyline

The Election

When I have posted before, I have said that Blake often used ruthless methods in work and private matters but that he gradually changed because of Krystle’s calming influence . Blake had thought her too naïve in business and they had argued about that when Krystle said she wouldn’t turn over her conscience to him – she was later disgusted at Blake’s alleged part in Rashid Ahmed’s death. For all that, we still see Blake as being less ruthless but still shrewd and realistic in business – great at running his empire and became better at handling his family affairs. Yet……this seemed to change during the election campaign. Blake became increasingly naïve and Krystle was the realistic one – he kept saying that no matter what lies Alexis would print about him, it wouldn’t affect the electorate –he had a great belief that they would vote on the issues!!! Even after the bordello incident, he seemed surprised that the Press were more interested in gossip and scandal than in the real issues. In the campaign, it was left to Krystle to try and turn things around – finding a copy of the bordello tape to show the truth, and in trying to warn Alexis off. She told him that if people hear/read enough bad things about him then they will start to believe them – she knows that they need to fight fire with fire with Alexis and not just sit back. I just thought it was strange that in this particular storyline, they had almost swapped places – she was the one who recognised how he had to run his campaign & Blake criticised her for playing dirty! Did Blake have temporary insanity at this time?
