Full Version: Dallas simply Dallas...

Dallas is THE show. Dynasty was a simple copy of it! Dynasty producers tried to do an excentric version of fabulous Dallas. So I always hated copies. Even this site is a copy of UltimateDallas. C'mon, I'm from Europe and everybody still remembers Dallas and JR and the Ewings and even Dallas theme. What about Dynasty? Well it's like just another show such as Falcon Crest and nothing more. Most of people can't recognize any character from Dynasty. So many europeans networks are broadcasting Dallas again.

I'm sure Goran thanks your for your comments, now go back to your Dallas site. The internet is free to everyone, and this is the site where Dynasty fans gather.

Dear Krebbs

I feel very sorry for you that you have little to do with your time as to go to this Dynasty fan site and bag the show that the fans love  I think it is very rude to go to any fan site and trash a show that people feel an affection for. It doesn't accomplish anything as the fans still love the show no matter what your negative opinion is. I agree with lovely guest, if you hate the show so much then why did you post here. Stick with the forums of the shows you like.

I'm very lucky to say that I love Dynasty and also Dallas and can't see why people can't love both shows. Both shows had their individual styles and actors. For us Aussies we got to see different parts of America at that time Denver (More sophisticated society, city living) and Dallas (More rich country living, oil fields and cattle ranches). They played a big pleasant part in Australians television watching in the 1980s. I remember us Aussies loved to talk together over the backyard fence about the evil wonderful JR and also the beautiful powerful, manipulative Alexis. Our ladies fashions were also influenced by the Dynasty women's styles of dress with shoulder pads, shiny metallic materials and pepplums, big hair.

Being a teenage girl back then I drooled over Jeff, Adam, Dex but also I loved sweet Bobby Ewing, so did many of my female school friends, family and neigbours. I also loved Falcon Crest with hunky dark brooding Lance and scary Angela!!!! All these wonderful night time soap dramas made us dream of being the greedy villian or the glamous bitch or just being rich, powerful and beautiful or being wooed by handsome rich worldly men in exotic locations. These wonderful glamorous shows with their full characters are what's missing in the 21st century television. 8)

Why not put some positive, happy, fun comments in forums and make the net a better place to visit. Remember the words of the song - "What have you done lately to make you feel proud?"

if dynasty was just another copy of dallas,

then how come by the mid 80's it had overtaken dallas in the ratings to become the world's no.1 watched show and the highest rated primetime show ever?

yes, dynasty was based around the same principles as dallas but overall they were 2 quite different shows.

and dallas didnt have joan collins.

Yep even though I loved the other 1980s soaps too at the time, Dynasty was the best and my favourite. Yep "The Alexis of Evil" I agree it was the number one soap of glitz, glamour, riches AND it had the big big bonus for all us girls and women .......A FEMALE SUPER BITCH (with a heart heehee) the BEAUTIFUL INTELLIGENT SEXY ALEXIS

Oh i forgot too that unlike the other soaps at the time Dynasty also sprinkled abit of humour into the series and campyness. An Example is I love it when they repeatedly have Alexis forget the name of her new male secretaries. Also the campy dramatic lines and best part was the funny, brilliant CAT FIGHTS!!!!!!! I also love the tug of war one a the Medieval faire between Alexis and Krystle in their beautiful period costumes. I loved how the show never took itself too seriously - cool 8)

And another thing that was special about this show was the best dramatic beautiful background music (Like an old Hollywood movie music) and the sweet touch of having a theme tune for each of the main characters and locations such as La Mirage and the Mansion - clever smile.gif

Oh dear I'm getting carried away here so I will stop - sorry
