Thought the forum members might like to hear about my having meet Joan Collins this afternoon.

Some of you might have seen a post from Nadine asking if anyone had a Dynasty Alexis doll as she needed one for a show Joan was appearing in. I emailed and she arranged for me to attend the filming of a new show called Gok’s Fashion Fix which will be broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 later this month.

The idea was that during the show Joan would be interviewed by Gok who would produce items related to Joan from a wicker laundry basket and use them as pointers to steer the conversation. Ufortunatly due to time restraints they were not able to use the doll but I did get to meet Joan !!

Joan was charming, I mentioned that I had also brought along the Season 3 dvd’s and asked if she wouldn’t mind signing the cover. I was very surprised when she said she didn’t even know that they were being released. She immediately wanted to know what the cover art was like and which picture they had used of her. I also mention that it was terrible that Paramount had decided to only release half a season, Joan suspects they just want to make more money. After getting the doll and dvd’s from the production office Joan had a good look at the packaging which she signed for me. She also wanted to see the doll, she said the hair needed to be bigger !! and proceeded to tease the hair, she then signed the doll on the back of the neck!!

During the show Gok produced the dress and hat Alexis wore to marry Dex in the show ( Dove grey 40’s style silk dress with small grey hat with Lily of the valley flowers). The dress appeared to be in good condition but the hat had suffered during the years. He also produced a photo of Joan and Shirley Bassey from around 1963 which surprised Joan.

Gok asked Joan who here style icons were: Ava Gardner, The Duchess of Windsor
Gok aked Joan if Alexis were a character now which designers would she be wearing: Alexander McQueen, Valentino, YSL

Joan also took part in various fashion games and features during the filming.

Joan was wearing a nice Black and white bead edged Ellen Terry Jacket, Zara Vest, Versace skirt and Faith shoes for those interested.

All in all a very exciting afternoon.
