A short while ago before the earthquake hit and everything got all mixed up and messed up.Our buddy Bibi recommended to us,on this very forum the book "Yanni in words ".The pull was if you love Linda Evans then read this and you will love her even more,I do so I thought I will and see if I do ( If you see what I mean ) And so I ordered it from Amazon and it duly arrived on Friday and I have spent the last two days ignoring my husband and reading it from cover to cover.
Mmmm well what can I say ( Before I give my critic,I have to admit I didn't digest all the information with a truly open mind,I was ready to mentally lambaste him for any little indiscretion or misdemeanor and of course for splitting up with our girl and making her un-happy )
But anyway I read it and it was very interesting especially his early years growing up in a wonderful warm and loving family in Kalamata in Greece and also his life on the road during his " rock n roll " years in Minnesota and his struggles to get his music heard and all the people who helped and hindered him along the way.But and yes there is a but I know how these creative people, these artists, need to suffer for their craft and he makes no apologies for this ..But I can't help but feel our Linda did get treated very shabbily by him,she gave him a lot in terms of help ,support and guidance, she basically loved him with all she had,a fact he does acknowledge all the way through the book,I'll give him that, and she asks for very little in return ( you could say It even costs her,her last chance of motherhood,he offers to give her a child, but won't give up touring be around to help raise it .) And when he at last reaches his goal and all the hard work and sacrifice pays off then .... well then he can't take some time out and be with her and that's sad and that's how it all ends " Un-resolved " as they both describe it. That's my take on it anyway and as Bibi promised if you love Linda, then you come away with even more respect and admiration for her and you can't help but think that Yanni is the real loser in this.
If anyone wants to borrow my copy,I'm happy to post it out to you, just send me an e-mail !!
