I've always wondered when i watch Dynasty, i was a huge fan in the 80's of the show, and didn't care that much about the mistakes and certain actors.

But what if Dynasty was aired for the first time know.

Has the same actors, same storylines etc.

I wonder if people would watch it and it became a bigger success know than then, or do you think it would be a complete flop in today's tv world.

I don't think so. Reality tv seems to be the rage today.

The 80's were a different time. Reagan was in office, people were mesmerized by the glamour and lifestyles of the rich and famous.

I think Dynasty did well in the 80's because it reflected the times back then. I just don't it will do well today. Today you have computer whizs in high school and college drop outs who are millionaires no big deal.

TV goes in cycles. The time's just not right for a revival. The continuing drama is still going, but not one revolving around glitz and glammor.

Well, if the clothes and hairstyles were more modern and hip by today's standards. I think it could very well have a chance. I mean just look at Footballers Wives. That show was about the filthy stinking rich. Some storylines were copied from Dynasty. Even the producer of the show said that their main inspiration was Dynasty and Dallas. The show was even more campy, glamoorous and outragous than Dynasty.
I must say for my part that watching a show like Footballers Wives was so refreshing from the numbness that is on television today. People today have been brainwashed by all this garbage. Well for the most part anyway.

We need another show like this. It's great escapism.

FW doesn't have that big a following in the states. In fact, it's lost ratings.

Spelling himself tried to resurrect the genre with Titans, a glitizier version of things, and it failed -- even with rumors that Joan Collins would reprise Alexis on the show, it failed.

Really? I didn't hear that. He was going to put the Alexis character on Titans? I did watch that show, but it was a bit of a snorer at times. I think you needed someone a little more aggressive than Victoria Principal as the "name brand character".

That would have been interesting to see Joan Collins on there


I did like her stint on PACIFIC PALISADES a few years before Titans, though. I wish that show had a longer shelf life than 13 episdoes.

Spelling thought Collins could improve the ratings, as she did years before with Dynasty, so plans were to resurrect Alexis. So, just when I had something to look forward to and continue watching, they pulled the plug.
