Michael is the Prince of a small European country Moldavia. After encounter with Blake's daughter Amanda in Acapulco they will get romantically involved. On Michael's side, the feelings are real while Amanda seeks escape from her relationship with Dex, Alexis's husband, her stepfather. 

A wedding in Moldavia takes place with the presence of the royal family and the Carringtons. Revolutionaries will attack and cause a massacre after which Michael's father Galen will be removed from the throne. Carringtons will be released along with Michael who will for a long time believe his father is death, until Dex and Alexis rescue him. 

His marriage with Amanda won't last and he will be disappointed by the duplicity of his father who will try to use Alexis to regain the throne. Michael will get close to  Elena of Moldavia to who he has strong connections from his childhood.
