Dana is a young, sweet and compassionate woman from Montana where Blake's son Adam lived after the kidnapping, under the name of Michael Torrance. They had a one night stand, which Adam didn't remember as he was drunk. Dana got pregnant and afterwards aborted the child. 

Many years later, Dana comes to Denver and starts working for "Denver-Carrington" as one of Blake's secretaries. Subsequently, she meets Adam and reveals to him that both of them are from the same hometown, so they get closer and start thinking of marriage. However, their relationship seems to be less positive than expected for Neal McVane's pressure and Adam's instable frame of mind. 

They'll get married eventually, experiencing a great deal of life impacts, but Dana won't be able to conceive and, therefore, to provide a Carrington heir. Meanwhile, Sean Rowan will discover her secret and blackmail her, asking information on "Denver-Carrington" management in exchange for confidentiality, up to the moment Adam finds out the truth. 

Still wanting a child, Dana will suggest Adam to find a surrogate mother and he will - Karen Atkinson appears to be the correct selection, but, on second thought, she'll change her mind and decide to keep the child for herself relying upon her husband Jesse. After the custody hearing, the child is given to his natural mother and Dana ends her relationship with Adam seeking for happiness that exists elsewhere.
