Clay Fallmont is a prosperous and handsome
young businessman, and also the son of Senator Buck Fallmont. The
Fallmonts are a family of politicians.
In Denver, after a dinner party at the
Carringtons on the occasion of the Carrington-Colby pipeline settlement,
he meets Sammy Jo and they get involved in a passionate love affair which
results in marriage. Still, what appears to be a harmony, turns out to be
a lack of success in the field of emotions and maturity - because of
Clay's inclination towards unfettered way of life, his marriage to Sammy
Jo is being greatly distressed, not to mention Amanda's meddling and her
efforts to get rid of Sammy Jo to the full.
Finally, even though Clay learns that Sammy
Jo ain't pregnant at all, he wants her anyway but it's too late because of
Sammy Jo's feeling for the father of her son Danny. Emotionally torn apart
and pretty much hurt, particularly on account of mother's death, Clay
disassociates himself from the rest of the world until he meets a new
business assistant Leslie and they become lovers.
Unfortunately, their
relationship was too good
to last, mostly concerning Ben's possible paternity - Clay could easily be
his son from his affair with deceased Emilly, which had Buck already
known. Blood analysis won't prove a thing in this case though, so Clay's
ancestry turns into a puzzle - he might be a Carrington, then again, he
may not. All these events will mature Clay, yet he'll leave Denver and go
to Canada.
